Rethinking Change resources for
Chapter 1

If you know the source of any 'unknown' or have found I've credited the wrong person, please send a link of their website or screenshot of a book, magazine article, etc where the person who spoke it is the author. I did my best to research these.

From the section entitled: Evolution, Change, and Neuroplasticity in the book Evolve Your Brain by Dr. Joe Dispenza:
-
Change is a powerful word and it is completely feasible if you choose it.
-
Essentially, to evolve [get better, stronger, etc] is to change by adapting to the environment… everything that makes up our lives. To change is to be greater than the environment.
-
When we change something in our lives, we have to make it different than it would be if we had left it alone. To change it to become different. It means we are no longer than who we used to be. We have modified how we think, what we do, what we say, how we act, and who we are being. Personal change takes an intentional act of will.
-
We can change … so that we no longer fall into those repetitive, habitual, and unhealthy reactions.
-
… learn how to use the brain’s natural capacity of neuroplasticity, the ability to rewire and create new neurocircuits at any age to make substantial changes in the quality of your life.
-
To change and evolve is not a comfortable process…. To overcome our innate propensities, alter our genetic programs, and adapt to new environmental circumstances requires will and determination. Let’s face it, changing is inconvenient… to relinquish the old and embrace the new is a big risk.
-
The brain is not designed to just stop learning. When we stop upgrading the brain with new information, it becomes hardwired; riddled with automatic programs of behavior that no longer support evolution (change). Adaptability is the ability to change. We are so smart and capable. We can learn new things, break old habits, change our beliefs and our perceptions, overcome difficult circumstances, master skills and mysteriously become different beings.
-
The truth is that we are marvels of flexibility, adaptability and a neuroplasticity that allows us to reformulate and repattern our neuro connections and produce the kinds of behaviors that we want. We have far more power to alter our own brain, our behavior, our personality, and ultimately our reality than previously thought possible.
-
We have the kind of hardware in our brain that allows us certain unique privileges. We can keep a dream or ideal in our mind for extended periods of time despite external environmental circumstances. We also have the capacity to rewire our brain because we are capable of making a thought more real to us than anything else.
